The piece is inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke's Élégies de Duino, whose dancers silently evoke poetry. Fluid and free movements for a story of despair, life and joy. David Bowie's songs feed a vibrant and pop soundtrack on a lyrical backdrop. The mystical romanticism of Rilke's angels and beasts is reflected in Bowie's surrealism: the songs connect the personal memories of the audience with the stories told on stage by the dancers.
Without ever illustrating, EVOL gathers these different sources in a show full of nuances and sensitivity.
