Every year, Les Brigittines teams up with the Master in Performing Arts of the Université Libre de Bruxelles to carry out a wide-ranging reflection on the current scene and on societal issues.

At the beginning of this year, Stefan Hertmans published De Opgang, which, through a fascinating investigation, paints a portrait of a Flemish SS man who was deeply involved in collaboration with the Third Reich. The book questions evil and is a gripping plunge into the human soul as only a great novelist can portray and question it.
Born in 1951 in Ghent, Stefan Hertmans has written novels, short stories, essays, poetry and theatre. His work has been translated into fifteen languages.
Through his writings and speeches, the author takes a sharp look at the dangerous reiterations of history, our times, its social phenomena and the evolution of mentalities.

The interview will be conducted by Edith Bertholet, Director of Point Culture.
