A clear dramaturgical intention: a 55-minute study in uninterrupted crescendo. A choreographic arrangement with perfect mechanics: five dancers in line like a great helix spinning on itself.

The rigour crumbles in the face of the dancers’ gradual exhaustion, but the more exhausted the bodies become, the more moving they become, revealing their fragility and their rage to carry on. And we are trapped in dreams of infinity becausewe want it to go on forever, and it never will.

With Les jolies choses, Catherine Gaudet’s work finds a form of jubilant determination within the strict constraints of her writing.
