Quatuor Diotima is a much-loved string quartet, especially when it comes to the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. They will then probably be able to indulge in Janáček’s String Quartet No. 1, in which the Czech composer Tolstoy’s The Kreutzer Sonata serves as a starting point. But the performance that is definitely worth waiting for is the Belgian premiere of Alchymia, the clarinet quintet by Brit Thomas Adès, starring Mark Simpson. Lastly, they will show that they have also mastered a repertoire work perfectly as they perform Brahms’s Second String Quartet.
